Double Ghost IPA Bottles

Double Ghost IPA Bottles

It’s all hands on decks! Promotional bottles in the Ghost Ship fleet currently offer the chance to win tickets to Classic Ibiza. Find out more here. While excitement is brewing for this summer’s concerts, a storm is brewing in the shallows off Southwold. The site of hundreds of shipwrecks, restless souls linger, much like the bold, tropical fruit finish of Double Ghost IPA. It's been an ambition of our head brewer, Dan, to brew a further iteration of Ghost Ship and add to the popular fleet. The Citra hop has not only transformed the brewing landscape, but the Adnams brewery itself. To be able to explore this hop in an India Pale Ale and try to coax different nuances out of the ingredients while staying true to the original, is a dream for a brewer. Our IPA has two sets of dry hopping at different points in the fermentation process. Citra hops are the main contributor, with Centennial and Chinook in a supporting role, alongside some UK Pilgrim for bittering. The higher alcohol level allows us to layer additional hop character, which not only creates complexity in this expression, but also adds further nuance to its flavour. A reckoning for your taste buds, it’s Ghost Ship unleashed.
Double Ghost IPA Bottles

Description

Double Ghost is our thunderous new IPA. Double dry hopping whips up a surge of tropical fruit, flashes of pine, white grape and citrus, quickly followed by a crack of rye spice. Inspired by the ghost stories surrounding the ships lost to storms along Southwold's Sole Bay, it's a shipmate to Ghost Ship 4.5% Pale Ale and Ghost Ship 0.5% Pale Ale. The legend continues...

How does it taste

Upfront, there is a massive splash of pine and Ghost Ship’s characteristic spiciness from the use of rye and Adnams house yeast. As the palate opens up, you’ll find mango, guava and pineapple and Citra's character starts to shine, adding orange and red berries. Overall, it's well-balanced with a pleasant bitterness, and our local barley produces good body which carries its cargo of hops.

A pleasant variation

I wouldn't want it to replace Ghost Ship but the variety is welcome.

Best IPA

A very nice bottled IPA, but I still prefer Ghost Ship which has a better taste in my opinion. Had it on tap which was great.

Just seen a ghost. Make that a double.

An improvement on the standard GS. Draft is even better. This brew is now running a close second to my favourite Adman’s brew (Broadside being numero uno).
I’m assuming it will become a permanent in the range?

Hi Murray,

Yes, Double Ghost is here to stay ;)

A wondrous Ale

Wonderful taste; a wondrous Ale. My partner has trouble with most Ales now due to increased food and preservative intolerances since the pandemic, but has been able to drink this Ale - a double bonus with it being so special. Behind this there is a very responsive and amazing company…thank you all!

A bit too tasty!

I bought this to try, as I've not seen it in the supermarket and I really like the regular Ghost Ship. As I mentioned in the title, this is a bit too tasty as it always leaves me wanting another, but the higher alcohol content means I need to take care with how many I drink in an evening!
